This chronic skin-disease is still without cure and no one knows the exact cause. It is universal with more than 10 % individuals in each country suffering from eczema. Haruan Cream or HC is the latest innovation and creation to provide a highly promising with great potential natural product remedy for eczema. This HC is suitable for all ages. The product sustains the medicinal value of the Haruan Channa striatus that has been scientifically proven to induce wound-healing, reducing-pain, treating-inflammation and inhibit growth of Staphylococcus aureus (common infection in eczema skin).
Haruan - a freshwater fish and indigenous species to Malaysia, is a nationwide traditional medicine that induce quick recovery for ladies in their post-partum. This is an ethno-pharmacology, and indeed was the main driving force to a drug-discovery R&D on the fish. It was conducted by Abdull Manan Mat Jais, a local and is now a retired Professor of Biomedical Sciences. The work is the first, a pioneer in Malaysia and it was started at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Sabah Branch in 1985 and continued at Universiti Putra Malaysia, from 1992 till retirement in 2014, and the research still continues until now.
His original work had attracted followers, among those whom suddenly realized the importance of Haruan C. striatus. Some, if not most of them had even abandoned their previous hard-core obsession on tongkat ali (Eurycoma longifolia), kacip fatimah (Labisia pumila) and misai kucing (Orthosiphon stamineus)

HC contains 5 % of the Haruan’s extract known or trademarked as Haruan Manan (HM) and was obtained through a pressurized in-water extraction (PIWE) without involving or using any toxic organic solvent. The pure superfine powder HM is blend to a cream with essential-oil and aqua-cream as the base, plus 0.1 % of polylysine, an organic preservative. The product contains HM as the bioactive ingredient, and the formulation is stable, non-steroidal, non-carcinogenic, Halalan-Toyyiban as well as a truly Malaysian product.
Prototype of the HC was developed and produced through an outsourcing arrangement to Industrial Biotechnology Research Centre (IBRC), SIRIM Bhd Malaysia in 2013. All the Certificate of Analysis (Heavy-metal and bacteria count), toxicity, mutagenicity AMES test and other relevant study were done at the IBRC. Steroid analysis in the HC was done at Toxicology Laboratory, National Poison Centre, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). Accordingly, this HC had been subjected to both animal and human model experimentation in treating inflammation of the skin or eczema, see the REFERENCES below.
The cream has entered Phase 2 of clinical trial with very positive and promising results on eczema patients, after a successful Phase 1 (Examining Safety of Haruan Cream (HC) with Patch Testing and Cumulative Dosing for up to 4 Weeks on Healthy Skin: a double-blind randomized controlled trial in two stages to give a Good Safety Profile (NMRR-14-1901-22292, Iran J Dermatol 2016, vol 19, pp 67-72). These are a double blind clinical trial to evaluate safety and efficacy of the Haruan Cream (HC) to treat atopic eczema
A pack of personal care consists of shower gel, body lotion and the Haruan Cream or HC was produced to help patients. Both shower-gel and lotion compliment the HC, containing 1 % of the HM extract formulated for easy use on all parts of the body. It is for daily use and suitable for all age groups and for the whole family – normal skin or with skin problems.
